Eating a slice of cheese a day may cut the risk of gallstones

Eating cheese regularly might lower the risk of developing gallstones, according to a study. But research has found that people who eat cheese at least once a day were more than 26 per cent less likely to end up with the problem. And even snacking on cheese once a week was enough to reduce the risk by 13 per cent compared to those who ate no cheese. But there is growing evidence that cheese may also protect against the condition in people who have never had gallstones before. They found eating cheese once a week was linked to a 13 per cent lower risk, eating it two to four times a week reduced the risk by 20 per cent, while those eating it once a day saw the biggest benefits, with a 26.3 per cent reduction in risk.
