Eateries need more govt aidAs the Covid-19 pandemic enters its 18th month, its impacts on the economy and people are becoming more sinister. Since the pandemic began, restaurants have not received adequate help from the government, especially compared to other businesses in the tourism sector. The step comes at the right time, but the aid is unlikely to be enough to make a difference. What restaurateurs want is aid and/or programmes which would cut their overhead costs such as property rental fees. Without the government's help, more restaurants, which have been the backbone of the tourism and service industry, will die out.
