Over this week, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has issued notices to over 30 popular restobars, cafes and eating joints for running hookah parlours within their premises while the North MCD has issued show-cause notices to 106 restaurants and 'closure' notices to 36 such establishments finding "serious violations". The notices issued means a warning has been given to them. At the same time, the North MCD has issued show-cause notices to 106 restaurants for violations of fire safety and public health. Of the 326 eating houses and restaurants inspected by the civic body, 210 were found in violation of public health rules such as 'hygiene' while 38 units were issued notices for breaching 'fire safety' norms. The civic body also issued notices to 47 banquet halls, salons and gyms for not conforming to rules.
