Now, with its new holiday-themed sketch show Eat, Buy, Repeat, the company responds to, among other things, Donald Trump’s election as U.S. president. Another highlight comes in a two-hander with Munch and Ambroziak, as a long-distance couple looking for some private time over Skype. It might come in handy to remember this during our own holiday family gatherings (without the sexual undertones, clearly). But if you’re looking to escape political commentary take heart; the majority of Eat, Buy, Repeat deals with purely yuletide content: cold weather, holiday baking, awkwardly overenthusiastic co-workers and meeting the new in-laws are all covered here with Second City’s usual absurd, good-hearted tone. Not all of Eat, Buy, Repeat has the same punch as its headline-inspired sketches, but director Leslie Seiler keeps the general production light and nonconfrontational.
