TACLOBAN CITY—Local government officials in Eastern Visayas have stepped up to the plate to fulfill their duties to ease people’s suffering during the COVID-19 pandemic. In Borongan City, Eastern Samar, officials hired a local group of seamstress to make face masks. Roger Espina also donated P600,000, representing his six-month salary, to the Biliran Provincial Hospital for the procurement of 400 COVID-19 test kits. In Maasin City, Southern Leyte, the city government distributed thermal scanners and face masks to all of the city’s 70 barangays.
