Ulrich GlasnerThe Queenstown Lakes District Council is considering creating a wetland area to help resolve Wanaka’s stormwater issues. In a statement yesterday, QLDC said it had had "positive preliminary discussions" with the Otago Fish & Game Council about the proposed new stormwater catchment solution and wetland area. The Otago Daily Times has asked QLDC if the proposed wetland area is near the Wanaka Showgrounds. Stormwater and sediment levels entering Bullock Creek had long been a concern for many in Wanaka, including the Friends of Bullock Creek, and Otago Fish & Game, QLDC said. "The concept will aim to deliver clear water into the lake while continuing to retain sediment and protect pre-development flows into Bullock Creek."
