Eagles Clipped In North Africa, Dumped Out Of CAF Confederation

By Punch ChamaIt was agony for Green Eagles as a late goal from veteran striker Ahmed Gasmi sank them to a 2-1 loss against Algerians NA Hussein Dey at the Stade du 5 Juillet Stadium in Algiers, Algeria as the service men went crashing out of the Caf Confederations Cup. Eagles started on a good note as they scored the opening goal in the 3rd minute through a Collins Mulenga free kick but Hussein Dey equalized in the 37th minute via a penalty scored by Gasmi who had missed the first leg in Zambia due to suspension. 34 year old Gasmi would then in the winner in the 95th as Hussein Dey ran out 2-1 winners on the night and also on aggregate to advance to the Caf Confederations Cup play offs while for Eagles it was close but not close enough as they lost their first match in their first ever Continental campaign and were eliminated from the competition.
