However, it triggered immediate challenges, as former Deputy National Chairman Nafiu Bala Gombe, asserted his right to succeed Nwosu under the party constitution. The crisis has left the party without a generally recognised national leadership, complicating preparations for ward, local government, state, and national congresses. Others in the faction are former Osun State governor Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary and Bolaji Abdullahi as National Publicity Secretary.
