BRUSSELS, Jan 13 (KUNA) — The European Union (EU) said Friday that it is working on a comprehensive approach to the management of migration to Europe from Libya which are focused on fighting irregular and smuggling and trafficking of migrants and also working to assist migrants in Libya. Natasha BERTAUD, a spokesperson for the European Commission, told a news conference today that the EU engagement in the field of migration in Libya promotes the political dialogue by providing support to EU funded programme. “We have ongoing programme (with Libya) worth 20 million euro and upcoming programme worth over 25 million euro,” she added. Muscat whose country took over the rotating EU Presidency on 1 January, said that the EU should make a deal with Libya, from where most migrants leave Africa for Europe.
