Share TweetBy Roy MabasaThe European Union (EU) Delegation to the Philippines on Sunday kicked off a football solidarity festival aimed to provide the opportunity for 60 underprivileged Filipino children to experience the game through a football clinic under the tutelage of Scottish coach Leigh Manson. “We want Filipinos to experience the dynamism and vitality of football as a sport, EU Ambassador to the Philippines Franz Jessen said in a statement. Aside from the football clinic, European diplomats from the EU Delegation pitched their skills and prowess against Laos F. C., a group of semi-professional and veteran Filipino players associated with Fundacion Santiago. The competition was named after the late Alcantara, a Spanish Filipino football player and manager who played forward with FC Barcelona in 1912.
