Asian textile and apparel manufacturers must meet strict sustainability and eco-labelling standards to continue exporting to the EU. The new regulations will force the Asian textile industry to reduce its environmental impact if it wants to export to the EU. That in a nutshell is the challenge facing Asian textile and apparel manufacturers. Here we examine some of the changes that are inevitable to achieve compliance with the EU standards and requirements and what produces need to do. This requires investment in new processes and new technology by Asian textile and apparel manufacturers.
