EPA Takes Steps to Address Land Degradation in Liberia


EPA Executive Director, Dr. Nathaniel T. Blama SrMONROVIA – The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of Liberia has begun taking steps to address land degradation in the country. One of the steps includes the vetting, validation and endorsement of the country’s Land Degradation Neutrality Target Setting Report (LDNTSR). Liberia got involved and started participating in the Land Degradation Neutrality Target Setting Program after submitting a formal letter of interest at COP 13, held in Inner Mogolia, China. He disclosed that some of the targets seek to revert land degradation across the world. The EPA Boss also noted that “our unsustainable farming practices are also a contributing to land degradation and called on the collective efforts of stakeholders in the sustainable land management sector to come-up with appropriate actions that will help halt or reserve land degradation or land loss in Liberia.
