EPA Budget Would Be Slashed by 31%

The Trump administration is proposing slashing the Environmental Protection Agency’s budget by 31%, to $6.1 billion, in keeping with its previous requests to shrink the agency. The proposal doesn’t specify which programs would sustain the biggest cuts, though it does state that the agency’s efforts will be weighted toward continued deregulation. The administration is also proposing a new, $50 million grant program to repair public schools affected by asbestos, tainted water or other environmental hazards.
