EFF supporters go against Covid-19 regulations at Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, rally

EFF leader, Julius Malema, told throngs of party supporters in Durban to disregard Covid-19 restrictions, saying the regulations were designed to “disarm” President Cyril Ramaphosa’s opponents. Speaking at an EFF rally- to thank KwaZulu-Natal citizens who supported the party in the November municipal elections- at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, Malema said Covid-19 no longer existed. The majority of EFF supporters – who turned up in large numbers in contravention of Covid-19 restrictions which include that not more than 2000 people should attend an outdoor gathering- were also not wearing masks. “These lockdown regulations are unreasonable – that’s why us in the EFF doesn’t comply with them,” he said. Malema urged Ramaphosa to “urgently” lift regulations banning fans from attending sporting events at stadiums.
