The health facilities will identify the students using data in the National Education Management Information System (Nemis), which was recently introduced by the government, pending issuance of medical cards. It is not in doubt that social and economic disparities have locked out a large segment of the population from quality medical services. It is questionable if all the health facilities included in the programme have the resources and capacity to provide proper medical care. Having a comprehensive medical cover for students is a noble initiative; it is part of the broad agenda of expanding healthcare to all.
