Since their inauguration after last year’s elections, no less than five of them have been hit by a caustic wave of violence, which, in some instances, has resulted in serious injuries. More contemptible is the fact that the fights are driven by disagreements over sharing of slots as well differences over motions and development projects. Yesterday, Nyeri joined a growing list of counties that have chosen violence as the standard way of resolving differences and sorting out minor disagreements. The least one would expect of a member of the county assembly is basic persuasion and debating skills, open-mindedness and tolerance to different opinions.
