The Teachers Service Commission must put its foot down and grab this opportunity to send a strong warning to the wayward in the teaching fraternity. Our schools must remain sacrosanct institutions where discipline is instilled and maintained, as opposed to places where debauchery and perversion are the order of the day. How is it possible that teachers, who are supposed to be surrogate parents revered and respected by the learners as models of unimpeachable rectitude and integrity, can be the ones driving the young ones to depravity? The TSC and the police must speed up the investigations and if it is established that, indeed, the teachers were misbehaving with their students, the punishment must be severe, to serve as a lesson to others.
