It is the ideal method of guaranteeing fairness and transparency in the party primaries. Underpinning it is the history of party nominations that are largely characterised by bribery, fraud and nepotism. Put simply, party nominations are a charade and a mockery of democracy. In fact, the commission has complained of inadequate funding, so it is preposterous to expect it to finance party nominations.
