In a marked departure from the past, the new curriculum proposed in 2012 through a national task force, is to be tested before full implementation next January. It is a particularly different system that places emphasis on the competencies learnt rather theory and regurgitation of facts. Previously, curriculum reforms were implemented with a big bang in all the schools across the country without prior testing. This is a critical stage that requires meticulous planning. Education is a major national undertaking that requires deep thinking.
