Drugs destroy lives and whole societies. Parliament should consider passing mandatory sentence laws for drug offenders and particularly steep penalties for government or security officials involved in drugs, including those who provide protection or information to traffickers. The government should press on with its campaign, as it has the support of Kenyans who have helplessly watched the lives of their children destroyed by drugs. Political leaders have no right to protect drug kings, neither should the war on drugs be used as a political weapon.
