Over the years, people have lost faith in law enforcement -- not just in their competence or ability to handle a case, but also in their intentions. Personnel are being issued with tactical belts containing arms, a police wireless, handcuffs, an expandable baton, a torchlight, and a water bottle. Quite simply, people need to be able to trust the police to be on their side. Errant police officers, those found to be abusing power or harassing citizens, need to be dealt with firmly. Only when these changes are made will faith and trust in the police force be restored.
