As has been said time and time again, there is more to a country's progress than just GDP growth numbers. For Bangladesh, a land of rich rivers, forests, and other ecosystems boasting a rich and varied biodiversity, it is important for its conservation efforts to remain on track. Bangladesh's development journey will continue, and we are on the cusp of significant economic landmarks. However, unchecked development, which occurs at the cost of conservation efforts being minimized, and the loss of precious ecosystems and biodiversity, is not the sustainable model of development that Bangladesh has ever subscribed to. Development and conservation must go hand in hand, and not be at odds with one another.
