EC Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed told reporters following the top court order on Thursday that the commission decide on the new voting date on Sunday. The EC on Mar 31 announced the schedule for the polls to Gazipur and Khulna cities, with May 15 as the voting date. He said only announcing a new voting day would be enough to hold the polls once the top court lifted the stay. He sat with election commissioners Rafiqul Islam, Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury and the EC secretary on Thursday after the top court delivered the verdict in their favour. Officials said the EC was unlikely to pick up a voting date which coincides with the month of Ramadan.
