The commission has also requested a ban on the use of all vehicles in the capital from February 27-28, according to a letter from the Election Commission to the secretary of the road transport division sent on February 13. The 10 types of vehicles for which bans were requested are: two-stroke auto-rickshaws, four-stroke auto-rickshaws, easy-bikes, taxicabs, microbuses, SUVs, small trucks, sedans, buses, trucks, and all other locally operated motor run vehicles. However, the ban will not apply to candidates, their agents, or election observers with accredited ID cards, if they have permission from the returning officers. The authorities concerned can also relax the ban on national highways, port and emergency commodity transportation, or any other emergency needs, the letter adds.
