NewsElections Commission (EC) Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya yesterday stated that the EC hoped that the Provincial Council (PC) Election will be held by September, this year. Addressing a media briefing at the Elections Secretariat, Mr Deshapriya pointed out that the terms of the North Central, Eastern and Sabaragamuwa PCs have already ended. Meanwhile, the Central, Northern and North Western PCs are set to conclude their terms by September. As such, it was the ECs hoped that the PC Election can be held by September when the terms of these three councils expire. However, the EC Chairman observed that Parliament was the sole authority on deciding when to hold these elections.
