Mannan said this after visiting the victim at the Noakhakli General Hospital on Monday. At the time, the commissioner gave assurance of providing the victim with proper treatment and legal assistance from the government. Noakhali Deputy Commissioner Tanay Das and Superintendent of Police Md Ilias Sharif were present at the time, among others. The husband claimed they attacked his wife because she had voted for the local BNP candidate in the 11th general election held on December 30.
