General News of Friday, 26 August 2016Source: Starrfmonline.comEC directive on limited registration unlawful - Afenyo-MarkinAlexander Afenyo-Markin, Effutu MPThe demand by the EC that Ghanaians seeking to register in the limited registration exercise must visit their district offices before they can be registered is unconstitutional and could potentially disenfranchise many, MP for Effutu Alexander Afenyo-Markin has argued. The limited registration of voters which resumes today at district offices of the EC nationwide, will require any person seeking to have their details captured to visit EC offices. Speaking to Starr News, the controversial lawmaker said the move is inappropriate and must be stopped. “No law allows them to do that. "They shouldn’t make themselves vulnerable because Ghanaians are wide awake, Ghanaians know their rights and I will be at the fore front to assist any Ghanaian who wants his rights to be restored,” he said.
