DHAKA, Feb 9, 2026 (BSS) – The Election Commission (EC) has imposed a ban on outsiders from entering electoral areas to ensure that the 13th National Parliament election and the referendum, scheduled for February 12, are conducted in an influence-free, neutral, and peaceful manner. According to the EC’s decision, only persons directly involved in election activities, individuals permitted by the Election Commission, and residents or voters of the relevant constituency will be allowed to remain in the area from 48 hours before the start of voting until 24 hours after the conclusion of voting. The ban will be effective from 7:30am on February 10 to 4:30pm on February 13, said a notification signed by Senior Assistant Secretary of the EC Secretariat Md Shahidul Islam today. It further stated that concerned parties have been instructed to take necessary measures in accordance with the EC’s directive. The notification added that all metropolitan police commissioners, deputy commissioners, and superintendents of police have been issued instructions to implement the decision.
