SANDAKAN: The Election Commission (EC) has appointed 57 observers from 10 organisations and two qualified individuals to monitor the Sandakan parliamentary by-election process here. “The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) has also opened its operation room at its Sandakan branch office, which is operating round the clock during the campaign period,” he said. The Sandakan by-election campaign period officially started at 10am on Saturday and will run until 11.59pm of May 10, as polling day falls on May 11. We expect the results of the Sandakan by-election to be announced before 10pm on polling day. He strongly reminded that campaign materials which could incite racial sentiments, touch on religious sensitivities or create hostility are not allowed.
