A Staff ReporterCalcutta: Worried with refereeing, East Bengal shot off an email to the AIFF on Saturday, seeking a panel of observers and foreign referees for their crucial I-League tie versus Minerva Punjab FC in Panchkula on Tuesday. East Bengal claimed that they have been "at the receiving end of several questionable decisions" by referees in their previous games. "We would sincerely appreciate if the match is conducted by a reputed team of referee and assistant referees of foreign origin. "Such panel can comprise ex-Indian players who are experienced and have played similar crunch matches in the past," club secretary Kalyan Majumdar wrote in the email. Pointing out the claims of match-fixing by Minerva Punjab owner Ranjit Bajaj, the email further asked the AIFF to find out the authenticity of the allegations and take necessary action.
