A primary reason for frustration with our political system is its inability to act in the face of mass slaughter unleashed by weapons of war in schools, shopping centers and houses of worship. No matter how many people die or how many mass shootings our nation claims to mourn, the veneration of guns demands ever more human sacrifice. The term “political system,” of course, is vague.
