MANILA, Philippines — E-Gilas Pilipinas closed out its inaugural FIBA Esports Open campaign the way it began – in overpowering fashion. The Pinoy gamers blasted Indonesia, 71-35, to complete a five-game sweep of the South-East Asia Conference last Sunday. E-Gilas rebounded from a lackluster first half with a blistering second-half attack, turning a shaky six-point half-time lead into a runaway 36-point romp. But they reeled back in the face of the Filipinos’ stirring fightback built around the hot-shooting pair of Aljon Cruzin (aka Shintarou) and Aminolah Polog Jr. (aka Rial). Then Clark Banzon (aka Clark) added another triple to close out the first half at 22-16 with Shintarou finishing with seven points.
