MANILA, Philippines — The two local political parties of President Rodrigo Duterte’s children forged on Friday the new “Duterte Coalition” in a bid to “unite” the House of Representatives amid the heated speakership race in the chamber. Davao The HNP was founded by Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, a daughter of the President and Paolo’s sister. “Meanwhile, Congressmen and Congresswomen are elected and serve a mandate with an authority direct from the people. “Only a unified Congress, with a Speaker chosen freely by its members, can help President Duterte realize his vision of lifting our people out of poverty through sustained economic growth,” he added. House members will elect their next leader at the opening of the 18th Congress on July 22.
