In October last year, Duterte sustained some scrapes and bruises following a motorcycle accident also inside the PSG compound. As a result, Duterte had to cut short his trip to Japan where he attended the enthronement ceremony of Emperor Naruhito because of severe back pain, which his doctor said was a case of muscular spasm. Days later, the President was seen riding a motorcycle again. A motorcycle enthusiast, Duterte used to ride his own bike in Davao City even after he was already declared president. Duterte has previously admitted to having a misaligned spine as result of a motorcycle accident years ago.
