Duterte leads LRT 2 East Extension inauguration


President Rodrigo Roa Duterte leads the unveiling of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 2 East Extension marker during the inauguration ceremony of the newly built LRT Line 2 Station in Antipolo City, Rizal on July 1, 2021. ACE MORANDANTE/ PRESIDENTIAL PHOTOPRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte, along with Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade and Light Rail Transit Authority Administrator Reynaldo Berroya, led the inauguration of the LRT 2 East Extension Project on Thursday. The LRT 2 East Extension Project added 3.7 kilometers to the existing 13.8-kilometer rail, connecting Claro M. Recto Avenue in Manila and Antipolo, Rizal. The LRT 2 East Extension Project will reduce travel time from Recto Avenue, Manila to Masinag, Antipolo from three hours via bus or jeepney to just 30 to 40 minutes. The construction of the Marikina-Pasig and Antipolo stations started on Feb. 20, 2017 with a contract amounting to P1.1 billion.
