Duterte admin to implement ‘Community-based Employment Program’The Duterte administration will implement Community-based Employment Program (CBEP) in barangays to provide more jobs to Filipinos, according to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO). Employment rate increased to 94.2 percent in January 2016 from 93.4 percent January 2015, according to the latest labor survey of the Philippine Statistic Authority (PSA). Unemployment rate, meanwhile, went down to 5.8 percent in January this year from the last 6.6 percent in January 2015. As of January this year, more jobs were generated, citing better employment opportunities in the industry and services sectors, Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Emmanuel F. Esguerra had said. Included in the program objectives are the following:rationalize CBEP;address structural constraints, especially in areas outside Luzon;promote agricultural and agri-industry linkages;support the full implementation of JobStart, which provides training on technical and life skills;develop employer-led skills enhancement programs;and provide continuing education/ re-training programs for women returning to work.
