PhotoA billionaire co-founder of Facebook is committing $20 million to help elect Democrats this fall, saying the campaign of Donald J. Trump has raised such fundamental questions that he and his wife felt compelled to intervene. The co-founder Dustin Moskovitz made the announcement with his wife, Cari Tuna, in an 800-word essay posted on the website Medium. “The Republican Party, and Donald Trump in particular, is running on a zero-sum vision, stressing a false contest between their constituency and the rest of the world,” Mr. Moskovitz and Ms. Tuna wrote in the post. But his $20 million in donations will, when consummated, instantly catapult Mr. Moskovitz to the top tier of political donors in the United States. Mr. Moskovitz said the largest contributions would go to the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund and Our Future PAC, a super PAC backed by a coalition of labor unions and environmentalists.
