Stephan El Shaarawy joined Roma on a free transfer earlier this year after leaving the Italian champions in 2019 to pursue a new challenge in the Chinese Super League. Despite his obvious talent, many thought El Shaarawy had given up on major European football at the age of 27 – but that was not the case. El Shaarawy’s only regret from his two seasons in China will be his bank account, which grew significantly during his time away from Italy. During that time, El Shaarawy remained in the Italy side, making three appearances.
