Durham police searching for stolen van full of dogs

Durham police say they are looking for a white van containing more than a dozen dogs after it was stolen on Friday morning in the Whitby area. At around 11:30 a.m., a woman believed to be a dog walker or a dog sitter was approached by a “tall and thin” man armed with a knife in the Garden St. and Manning Rd. George Tudos, spokesperson for Durham police. The man ultimately stole the woman’s white 2008 Chevy Uplander from the residential area and fled the scene with the 13 to 15 dogs still inside the van, Tudos said. Police say he may be armed and, if seen, he is to not be approached.
