MEMBERS of Holy Family Boxing Club in Drogheda are on cloud nine this week after two of their boxers earned places in the Ireland team for the upcoming World Amateur Championships in Serbia. Eugene McKeever and Ricky Nesbitt were selected after winning National Elite titles and impressing at a specially arranged sparring session at the home of Team GB in Sheffield. “It’s wonderful news and it’s brilliant for the club and testament to the dedication of our coaching staff, headed by Damien McKenna who boxed at the World Championships many years ago. Meanwhile, Holy Family BC will play host to a Garda Boxing Club promotion at their home in Ballsgrove this coming Saturday. The show is part of a Community Engagement programme run by the Garda Siochana in partnership with Holy Family.
