PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency has arrested two top senior officials of a state agency in Sabah for alleged abuse of power involving contracts worth RM3.3bil. MACC also seized cash worth RM3mil from a safe deposit box at the office of one of the senior officials. “The RM3.3bil worth of projects to build basic infrastructure are just allocations approved by the Federal Government. “We believe the amount involved could be higher as it does not include state-approved allocations for projects on basic amenities and maintenance work,” added another source. Newly appointed MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Datuk Azam Baki confirmed the arrests but declined to elaborate as investigations were ongoing.
