Dunedin water test results return clear, boil notice may be lifted Friday

Dunedin water test results return clear, boil notice may be lifted FridayHAMISH McNEILLY/STUFF Contractors flush out the public water supply in North Dunedin. The Dunedin City Council may lift a boil water notice after a series of clear drinking water tests. Council chief executive Sue Bidrose said tests had confirmed the water supply, which was tainted with untreated water from a disused reservoir on Monday, was within normal safe drinking water standards. The council said untreated water accidentally entered the treated supply when the water level in the Ross Creek reservoir was lowered to help with work in the area. After "a little spike" of complaints on Tuesday morning, a closer inspection revealed untreated "raw water" from the Ross Creek Reservoir had entered the treated water supply.
