Daniel Paul Prattley — who turned 42 yesterday — appeared in the Dunedin District Court after pleading guilty to threatening to kill. On the evening of November 11, the defendant was communicating with his support worker went he sent the chilling text message: "Ring the cops, I got [my flatmate], Lawyers Head I kill him soon." Officers found Prattley shortly after and quickly discovered he was capable of following through on the threats. The defendant, perched on the cliff top, picked up the victim as police closed in.
