Prison officials say inmates have been left with skin infections as a result of the water shortage. Officials say inconsistent electricity supply does not allow the pumping of water from the Bukornu water treatment plant to consumers in the area. The Eastern Regional Public Relations Officer for the Ghana Water Company Limited, Kwadwo Daase said he fears the situation will get worse if the power cuts persist. The power supply has been erratic across the country with many businesses already complaining about the effect of the situation.
