Following the Dhaka University Central Students Union (Ducsu) elections on Monday, several students went on the hunger strike from Tuesday, demanding re-election and resignation of people involved in conducting the polls. Several protesting students fell sick on Friday and were treated at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH). After four days into the strike, members of Dhaka University Teachers' Association met the protesting students around 11pm Friday. Dhaka University Teachers' Association President Prof ASM Maksud Kamal said: "If you want, university authorities will sit with you on Monday.
