Dubrovnik imposes fines on tourists wearing skimpy swimwear

Dubrovnik imposes fines on tourists wearing skimpy swimwearANTONIO BRONIC/REUTERSPeople wearing skimpy swimwear are set to be hit by fines by Croatian authorities. The fines are to stop tourists to Dubrovnik walking around the city in swimsuits, local media report. Offenders of the dress code within the old city are to be fined between 500-1000 kuna (NZ$104-$207). In June, a local newspaper reported that matters came to a head when two male tourists were walking around the centre nude. "The old centre is a form of museum, in such a way that it is unacceptable for tourists to walk on the Stradun (the main street in Dubrovnik), dressed incorrectly," vice mayor Zeljko Raguz said.
