Dublin hotels will struggle to fill rooms ‘until planes return to the sky’ – hotelier

Dublin hotels will continue to struggle to fill rooms “until planes return to the sky”, a city centre hotelier has claimed. While hotels and guesthouses outside the capital are experiencing a staycation boom – particularly along popular sections of the Wild Atlantic Way – it’s a very different story in Dublin this summer. “The cancellation of major events is significant, but not as significant as the loss of international tourists. “There has never been a better time to come to Dublin – there’s no queuing for tourist attractions and there is plenty of hotel availability. “The EWSS (Employment Wage Subsidy Scheme) meant we were able to maintain our service and support livelihoods, which is very important to us.”
