Dublin bus driver hospitalised after suffering heart attack during rush hour

A Dublin Bus driver and cyclist are in hospital after the driver suffered a heart attack while travelling through Dublin’s city centre on Monday morning. The number 16 Dublin Bus was involved in a “minor collision” with a cyclist at around 7.40am on Monday after the driver suffered a heart attack while travelling down Westmoreland Street. The male driver, who is in his 50s, was taken by ambulance to the Mater Hospital. A spokeswoman for Dublin Bus said that all drivers were trained in “comprehensive procedures” for dealing with these types of emergency situations. All vehicles are equipped with a radio which immediately connects with the Dublin Bus central control centre who in turn contact the emergency services, she said.
