Dublin-headquartered Avia Solutions Group has acquired Australian airline Skytrans as it expands its presence in the region. Avia Solutions Group, founded in Lithuania by its chairman, Gediminas Žiemelis, moved its headquarters to Ireland last year. "One of the main strategic objectives of the group is to expand into markets that have the opposite seasonality to Europe,” said Avia Solutions Group chief executive Jonas Janukenas. Avia Solutions Group is the parent company to operators including SmartLynx Airlines, Avion Express, AirExplore, KlasJet and Magma Aviation. The group provides aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul services through tis FL Technics subsidiary.
