Dublin’s Luas passengers ‘more likely to feel unsafe’

Pic: Getty ImagesCommuters on Dublin’s two Luas lines reportedly feel more unsafe on their journeys than any other public transport users. The survey revealed that a higher portion of Luas commuters feel unsafe either travelling on-board, waiting at stops or walking to and from tram stops. When walking to and from bus stops, 2pc of men felt slightly or very unsafe compared to 5pc of women. While 6pc of commuters overall called for “increased security” on all transport services, this figure jumped to 27pc among Luas passengers. A record 308 million passenger journeys were taken on public transport services last year, an increase of 24pc.
